My drawing style is heavily influenced by the immaculate line work of Japanese bishoujo (美少女) manga. Growing up, I was enamoured with Sailor Moon by Takeuchi Naoko, Chobits by CLAMP, Angel Sanctuary by Kaori Yuki, and above all, Kaguyahime and Magic by Reiko Shimizu.
Since my drawings are typically dependent on pure linework, they tend to be highly ornamental.
I am actively exploring different faces and bodies in my recent drawings, which is facilitated by my recent use of watercolour. It is an ongoing process in restraint and harmony between colour and line.
My series of illustrations, Fat Free (2006), has been published in Lianhe Zaobao's 14th May 2008 edition, featured on Mediacorp's Living Well 《乐活有方》 programme on Channel 8, and received the UOB Painting of the Year (Highly Commended) award in 2006.
