MEDAN (ميدان) is the capital of the North Sumatra province of Indonesia. I could not help but gravitate towards interpreting the city as inhabiting a state of being that was uncomplicated and unfettered by corporate neuroses—a state which reflected my post-university romanticism and naïveté of that time. My vignettes of Medan's landscapes and people are accordingly oneiric, frothing with sunlight, and uncritical in its gaze.
